As educators we count, access, and advise every scholar we encounter. Each scholar has a voice to tell their story of being an overcomer. Each scholar has encountered some level of trauma in their lives which becomes a root issue to a systemic problem. As educators, it is our duty to address trauma before it reaches a point of normalization to ensure our scholars are academically, socially, and emotionally healthy. This then will prepare our scholars for postsecondary success. In this discussion we will shed light on the power of scholar voice, trauma and normalization, along with ways to switch the narrative from grit to resilience.
